You've Tried Every Gut Protocol From the Internet. Why not, Microbiome Testing?
Here's Why None of Them Worked.

You've done the elimination diet. Twice. You've run the supplement stack three separate podcasts swore by. You track your HRV every morning, and your sleep score is dialled in, but your gut still doesn't behave, and you have no idea why the "protocol" that worked for someone else's Instagram testimonial did nothing for you.
That's not a discipline problem, it's a data issue. Every one of those protocols was built with a gut issues in mind, just not your specific gut issues. You have yours, with its own bacterial composition, its own triggers, and its own reasons for the bloating, the energy dips, or the inconsistent digestion. Guessing your way through someone else's plan will never fix a system you haven't had individually assessed or measured yet.
Why generic gut protocols plateau
A low-FODMAP diet or a "gut reset" supplement stack works by removing broad categories of food or throwing a wide-spectrum intervention at the problem, useful for identifying triggers, but blunt as a long-term strategy. It can't tell you why certain foods are a problem, whether you're dealing with reduced microbial diversity, a depletion of key short-chain-fatty-acid producers, or something entirely different like bacterial overgrowth in the wrong part of your gut. Without that distinction, you're rotating through elimination and reintroduction indefinitely, never actually resolving the mechanism driving the symptoms.
SIBO vs Gut Microbiome Testing
Bloating gets treated as one problem online, but it isn't, and the test you need depends on which mechanism is driving it.
Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is diagnosed with a breath test, not a stool test: you drink a sugar solution, and a hydrogen rise of 20 ppm or more, or a methane rise of 10 ppm or more, within the test window points to bacteria fermenting carbohydrates in the small intestine before your body has absorbed them.
Metagenomic gut microbiome testing does something different. It sequences the DNA of everything living in a stool sample, mapping which bacterial species are present in the large intestine, in what proportions, and whether key populations (like short-chain-fatty-acid producers) are depleted.
Neither test replaces the other: a breath test catches small intestine overgrowth that a stool-based metagenomic panel can miss, while metagenomic testing catches large intestine imbalances, low diversity, and functional gaps that a breath test was never designed to detect. That's why bloating that doesn't resolve on a generic protocol may need both pictures, not just one, before the real driver becomes clear.
What a microbiome stool test shows
A comprehensive stool test goes well beyond "which bacteria do you have." It maps microbial diversity, such as:
Balance of major bacteria various Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes
Presence of beneficial short-chain-fatty-acid producers such as Akkermansia muciniphila and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii (organisms that feed your gut lining and help regulate inflammation).
How much is present and the percentage of the gut it is taking up (important to understand its overall impact)
The testing we utilise flags digestive function markers (how well you're breaking down and absorbing food), gut lining and inflammation markers like calprotectin, and any pathogenic overgrowths or parasites sitting underneath the symptoms. That's the difference between a general wellness snapshot and something that actually tells a practitioner what to target.
Once you can see the mechanism, depleted diversity, missing SCFA producers, hydrogen-dominance , methane-dominance, or an inflammatory marker that's elevated, the intervention stops being generic. It becomes specific: rebuilding particular bacterial populations, targeting a specific overgrowth with an evidence-matched approach, or addressing a digestive function issue that no elimination diet was ever going to touch. This is the shift from "try this and see" to working from your actual data.

You don't need another cleanse, another stack, or another 30-day reset copied from a podcast. You need a map of what's actually happening in your gut, and a plan built from that map, not from someone else's results.
